OBITUARY
Christopher James Jackson, affectionately known as “Chris” or “CJ,” was born in Chicago on August 29, 1994, to the union of Gabrielle Brown-Jackson and James Jackson. Although he was raised as a Christian and lived a Christian life, at the age of 18, he formally accepted Christ.
He received his elementary education FROM Horace Mann School. He attended and graduated from South Shore High School in 2012. During his time at South Shore, Chris played football on the Offensive line FOR the South Shore Tars. After high school, Chris attended Lane College and later on Ashford University. Every summer during his educational career, Chris worked security for the City of Chicago Festivals, and later on at Mariano’s. Chris touched lives in many ways. Some knew him as an athlete, some may have known him as an awesome poet, others may have heard him sing, or enjoyed watching him cut a step or two on the dance floor. He could really move!
Even at his young age, Chris exuded strength, compassion, understanding, supportiveness, encouragement, and extreme love. He was described by his friends as genuine, good hearted, noble, kind, and sweet. Chris complimented his friends and inspired them to do greater things. He was known for encouraging and motivating other players on the field and a source of light to everyone he met. He exuded comfort, joy, and peace. Chris could make you laugh with a funny joke, and gave the best bear hugs with that million dollar smile. Our son, Skylar’s father, was an awesome brother, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend to so many. His humor, generous spirit, and kind heart will be sorely missed. Our bright and shining star, Chris is with consistency, a remark in our circle. When you think of Chris think of love.
Chris leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents Gabrielle and James; his only daughter and pride and joy Skylar (loving mother of his child Stephanie Bush); his grandmothers, Shaina Brown, and L. Patrice (Rufus) Brown; his brother LaQueint Jackson, his sisters Candace Jackson, and Shannetta Jackson; his Aunts Lydia(Zim) Hamilton, Rufina, Juliette Scott, Natanya (Glenn) Diaz, Kristine (Alistar) Kendall, Darlene Robinson, Rita Patterson, Maxine Graham, Bernetta Graham uncles Ronald L. Williams, Drake Jackson, Anthony Jackson, Marshon Williams, Howard Jackson (deceased ; dear cousin-siblings Imani, Nijah, Iesha, Alina, Kingston, and Alex, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his “special aunts,” and dear and cherished friends.
Thank you guys for being there with him and for him. Our salute to a soul who has journeyed forward, it is not "Farewell" but "Good living Chris!” Good living!"
